Sliding into my placement like an oiled up watermellon

Monday -
Today was the first 'official' day of my placement, but consisted primarily of an informal conversation with Augustine about India. We also proceeded to prepare the rest of the Jack fruit from the other day, with Debbie eager to learn how to prepare it.
We later set off for lunch and ended up at a local cafe.

After the massage we got our passport photos taken for some additional forms needed, and then proceeded to walk around aimlessly until deciding to aim back towards home. We met many people on this journey, but the man who stood out most to me was Rajulu, a security guard for a school who called out to us as walking past. He proudly adorned his Kashmir service ribbon and 50 year independence of peace in Kashmir badge, which he received while in service.

I couldn't help but talk to some more street vendors either on the way home, as I'm always desperate to try their food, but frequently recommended to avoid consuming it.

After the cafe, we set off to Indira, Nagar. It was here that Debbie, Sherrie and I enjoyed an Ayurveda oil massage. It felt amazing. We were all in seperate rooms. I was put into a loincloth and covered in warm oil head to toe - a new experience for myself, where two people uniformly massaged you with amazing synchronicity on a beautifully carved massage table. My two masseuses were Mishnu and Tidto - practising for 2 and 8 years, respectively.
